So, basically, tons of redditors have discovered an easy method to transfer distance walked with your buddy to another buddy. Just in case you hit the desired candy mark before the required KM is walked. The method involves abusing the Ping time rate from your phone and the servers API. Basically the server only updates your buddy’s walked distance, once every 5 minutes. Let me make it very clear, this is only going to benefit you if you’ve received your desired candy mark before you have reached your distance walked with your buddy Pokemon. This will allow you to use it on your next buddy so you don’t feel like you wasted too much time over walking that Pokemon. Please note there is a possibility that it can take up to 10-15 minutes to receive an update on your distance walked. I would just mess with a stopwatch and see exactly how long it takes for your ping time between your phone and the servers API. To do this, you’ll need to follow these steps:
Go for a walk( Straight lines preferably. ) Set a time to say 4 Minutes, 30 seconds (Giving you 30 seconds) Change your Buddy Pokemon to desired Pokemon When update happens, whatever you’ve just walked will transfer to your new Pokemon.
Now obviously, this won’t give you the entire walked distance from one Pokemon to another, only whatever you’ve walked for the past 5 minutes. This is a really good method for using left over distance walked on another Pokemon if you’ve already reached your desired candy mark for your previous buddy.
